Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Debuts, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release around the time of the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
The company has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
